Bodafors Swedish teak sideboard

Swedish Teak Sideboard by Bertil Fridhagen for Bodafors.

Beautiful teak sideboard designed by Bertil Fridhagen and made by the Swedish furniture maker Bodafors in the 1961. It has been lightly restored to remove the worst signs of its 60years. However there are many original features and elements still intact. The interior shelves are original, the original brass hinges are still in place and the original key locks both doors. This is the three door version - we have more commonly see the four - which has two locking doors. The gorgeous handle detail drawers run along the full length. This piece is beautifully designed with restrained clean lines. It is unfussy and as attractive now as when it was created.


A very versatile piece with many uses; sideboard, TV cabinet, bedroom drawers, behind a sofa with lamps, bedside table, even a low console table. This compact design has plenty of storage, and is ideal for spaces where the four door would not fit.

The sideboard measures 175cm wide x 45cm deep x 80cm high.


DELIVERY

Delivery is £75 to most English addresses, however please ask and we can get a quote for any UK address. Delivery is a one man and van service so please make sure that someone is available to help unload the item and deliver it to a ground floor location. This is a large and heavy item so also think about any issues or obstacles (stairs or tight corners) that could impede it’s safe delivery to your desired location.

CONDITION

This piece is 60 years old and shows signs of use. It is not in perfect condition and we have tried to clearly show this:
- there are marks to the top
- one of the legs has historic damage
- at some point somebody has fixed handles to the front of the doors (!) which we have removed and lightly repaired the damage
- there are some marks to the sides of the piece
Because some panels are veneer and some elements are solid we have not been able to sand back to remove all of these, so please view the photos and video and if you require any additional images please get in touch. For some people these will not be an issue while for others they will. The price reflects the condition - this would sell for 3 x the listed price if it was in near perfect condition.
